BALTIMORE, Md. – The Catholic University women's track and field team wrapped up day one of the Landmark Conference Championships tied for sixth place with 15 points.
Junior Gabby Tomasura led the Cardinals with a third-place finish in the women's javelin (34.31m), scoring six points for the Cardinals. The junior also placed sixth in the women's discus with a 31.66m throw.
On the track, Catholic had four sprinters qualify for the finals on Sunday. Sophomore Madeline Baker placed eighth in the women's 200m. The Raleigh, N.C. native ran a 27.18 to advance to the finals. Freshman Anna Walcutt will return to action tomorrow in the 400m dash finals after running a 1:02.60 to place seventh in the prelims. Sophomore Natalie Troy ran a 17.25 in the women's 100m hurdles to qualify for the finals.
In the distance events, junior Marykate Higley finished eighth in the women's 10k with a time of 41:33.41. Senior Kiera Lyons also had a strong performance finishing fifth in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:53.73.
Catholic will return to action tomorrow for day two of the Landmark Conference Championships.
