Cardinals Hold Their Own at George Mason Invitational

The Catholic University women's indoor track & field team competed at the George Mason invitational against a field heavy on Division I opponents, including American, William & Mary, Richmond, Howard, and Mt. St. Mary's.

CUA's best individual finish of the day came from Meg Ross in the Weight Throw. The sophomore threw a 12.63m on her way to second in the event. She followed that up with an 8th place finish in the Shot Put behind a 10.19m throw.

Catherine Kitz claimed a top-10 finish in the 800m run, with a 2:35.40 finish in the finals. Teammates Maria Docal (2:45.48) and Rebecca Radcliffe (2:47.16) finished back-to-back in 13th and 14th place.

Kitz bested her 800m finish in the 1 Mile run, moving up two spots into 8th place running a 5:37.66. Also in the top-20 were Radcliffe (5:52.55), Erin Schlegel (5:57.12), and Sara Lally (6:05.02).

Bridget Krumholz earned a 25th place finish against the Division I opponents, finishing the 200m dash in 28.78 seconds. Not far behind was Victoria Maue, crossing the finish line in 28.98 seconds.

Krumholz had another strong finish in the 400, finishing in 1:03.53 for 17th place.

In the 3000m event, Lally ran a 11:38.33 time, earning her a 9th place finish, while Cristina Butrico finished in 12:54.11 for 13th.

Dexie Cercos and Kaila DeFalco competed in the 60m high hurdles, crossing the finish line in 10.54 and 11.53 seconds, respectively. Cercos' time was good for 12th place, while DeFalco's earned her 16th in the sprint.

On the men's side, Catholic's best result of the day came from Robert Leeson who finished ninth in the 800m with a time of 2:04.41. Christopher Papp competed in the same event, crossing the finish line in 2:15.91 for 15th place.

The Cardinals had two other top-15 finishes on the day, as Collin Roszyk came in twelfth place with a 1:12.17 time in the 500m. In the 1000m, Dylan Gallagher came in 15th with a 3:01.28 effort.

The Cardinals return to action next weekend, traveling to Susquehanna University on Saturday, February 8.
