Cardinals claim four titles to finish 3rd at conference championships

TOWSON, Md. – CUA finished 3rd at the 2013 Landmark Conference outdoor championships, which wrapped up on Sunday. The Cardinals totaled 133 points during the two-day competition, and Head Coach Joe Fisher and his staff were honored as the Women's Coaching Staff of the Year. Overall, CUA produced three champions during the weekend, including Megan Ross, Mary Clark and Laura Kinley.

Ross won the shot put with a throw of 39' 1 ¾", while Clark came in 4th place (36' 11"). Ross added a second title in the discus, where she unleashed a throw of 123' 4". Clark came in 8th this time around with a throw of 91'.

Kinley was the runner-up in the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:19.78, while Jane Marrinan (2:32.25), Maria Docal (2:32.75) and Kristen Rayfield (2:33.60) came in 9th, 10th and 11th, respectively.

Keely Eckberg picked up her second 2nd place finish in as many days, crossing in 18:41.20 in the 5000. Eckberg placed 2nd in the 10,000 on Saturday.

Also in the 5000, Rebecca Radcliffe came in 6th place in 19:22.09 and Cristina Butrico crossed in 19:57.94, good for 10th.

Grace Weaver placed 5th in the 200 meters, finishing in 27.20, and 6th in the 100 meters, crossing in a time of 13.40. She also came in 4th place in the high jump, with a leap of 4' 7 ¾".

In the 400, Bridget Krumholz crossed in 1:00.65 to claim 6th place, while Dexie Cercos finished 4th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.61.

In the relay events, the 4 x 100 meter relay team finished 2nd in 52.35, and the 4 x 400 meter relay team crossed in 4:09.22, placing them in 3rd.

On Saturday, Kinley set a championship meet and stadium record when she blazed her way to the 1500 meters championship, crossing in 4:42.25. It was Kinley's second 1500 meter title at CUA.

Clark won the hammer with a throw of 43.37 meters and placed 3rd in the javelin (30.87), while Radcliffe finished 3rd in the 10,000 meters (40:14.90).

Select Cardinals will be back in action on May 16 when they travel to Springfield, Mass., to take part in the ECAC championship.
