FAIRFAX STATION, Va. - The women's novice 8+ (A) boat, coxed by freshman Katie Kiester, finished fourth out of 19 crews to lead the Catholic University women's rowing team at the Head of the Occoquan Saturday at Sandy Run Regional Park.
The Cardinals finished fourth in a time of 20:31.17, besting crews from Division I schools, including Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Georgetown, Virginia Tech and Penn State as well Division III rivals St. Mary's (Md.), Carnegie Mellon and Cabrini.
George Washington crossed the line first in a time of 18:27.85.
The women's novice 8+ (B) boat, coxed by freshman Kayla Maloney, finished 13th with a time of 22:20.47, also crossing the line ahead of St. Mary's (Md.), Carnegie Mellon and Cabrini.
The women's varsity 8+ placed 11th out of 15 teams in a time of 19:37.73, finishing ahead of St. Mary's (Md.), Susquehanna and Cabrini. Georgetown crossed the line first with a mark of 17:06.25.
Catholic has completed its fall schedule and will return to action at the Washington College Invitational on Saturday, March 28.
