GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The Catholic University women's lacrosse team was honored by the IWLCA as an Academic Honor Squad on Wednesday while seven players were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
To qualify as an Academic Honor Squad, a team must have posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher for the academic year.
This marks the 11th-straight year that the Cardinals have been honored as an Academic Honor Squad. The Cardinals were one of five teams from the Landmark Conference to be honored along with Elizabethtown, Juniata, Scranton and Susquehanna. In addition, 10 of Catholic's 2019 opponents were recognized.
To be eligible for Academic Honor Roll accolades, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.
Among the seven Cardinals named to the Academic Honor Roll were seniors Erin Dugan, Megan Ellis, Jess Lyons, Kayla Purdy and Katie Sherry as well as juniors Nicole DiFabio and Holly Regan. Catholic has had 59 total Academic Honor Roll selections since 2010, garnering at least three every year with a nation-best 11 in 2017 and eight in 2016.
