Fast Start Carries Cardinals to 12th-Straight Title Game

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's lacrosse junior Ally Criscuolo scored four of the team's first 11 goals as the 10th-ranked Cardinals jumped out to an 11-1 lead en route to a 13-7 victory over Drew in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship Wednesday at Carlini Field.

With the win, Catholic (14-3) advanced to its 12th consecutive Landmark Conference championship game, having won 10 of the previous 11.

Criscuolo tied her career high with five goals, equaling the mark she set in a 23-15 win at Moravian earlier this year on March 30. She continues her best season as a Cardinal and now has 45 goals and 12 assists for 57 points.

Three of Criscuolo's goals came on free positions as the Cards were 5-of-12, their fifth game this season where they have scored on at least five attempts.

Catholic led 11-1 with 25:22 remaining in the second half with Criscuolo netting four while junior Julia Clementi and sophomore Anna Maupin had two each.

The Cardinals forced 15 caused turnovers as four players had at least three led by five from junior Alyssa Bishop. Senior Jess Lyons had four while Criscuolo and junior Nanci Hernandez each totaled three.

Hernandez made seven saves, including five in the first half as Catholic held the Rangers to just 7-of-13 on clears. They finished the game just 15-of-27 on clear attempts.

Drew (14-4) was led by two goals and two assists from Lauren Cassella while Allie DiDario totaled one goal, two ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers. Kat Michalski had 13 saves.

Four the fourth-straight year, Catholic will host Scranton to determine the Landmark Conference champion. The Cards won 18-10 a year ago and handed the 18th-ranked Royals a 16-13 home loss back on April 13. Opening draw is at noon.
