WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University women's lacrosse team begins its quest for the program's 11th Landmark Conference championship on Wednesday when the 10th-ranked Cardinals host Drew in the semifinals at Carlini Field beginning at 4 p.m.
Admission for Wednesday's game is $7 for adults and $5 for non-Landmark students and seniors (62+). Landmark students, faculty and staff will receive FREE admission along with children 10 and under.
This marks the second-straight year that the two teams have met in the semifinals. Last year, Catholic jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 14-3 at halftime en route to a 20-6 victory at Cardinal Stadium. Sophomore Anna Maupin had two goals and one assist while senior Megan Ellis and junior Julia Clementi each scored twice.
Wednesday's also marks the third consecutive matchup for the two teams in D.C. Earlier this season, sophomore Bridget Beck had two goals and two assists to lead 11 players who had at least one point as the 10th-ranked Cardinals posted a 15-5 victory over the Rangers at Carlini Field on April 6. The Cards outshot Drew 37-17 while the defense forced 28 turnovers and junior Nanci Hernandez made six saves.
Catholic has won 15 of the 16 all-time meetings against Drew since the league's inaugural season in 2008, including all 12 at home.
A win would send the Cardinals to the Landmark Conference championship game for the 12th consecutive year.
