GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Catholic University women's lacrosse junior Nanci Hernandez was named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday. Hernandez earned the same award for the Landmark Conference on Monday.
Hernandez is the first Cardinal to receive IWLCA player of the week honors since the inaugural awards on March 15, 2017.
Hernandez had 15 saves, 7.66 GAA and a 55.6 save percentage while adding four ground balls in earning wins last week over No. 2 Franklin & Marshall and Elizabethtown in the Catholic's Landmark Conference season opener. She made a season-high 12 saves, including seven in the second half of the team's win over F&M before totaling three in the first half against the Blue Jays as the Cardinals extended their conference win streak to 32.
