Cardinals Place Fifth in Greene Turtle Invitational

FRONT ROYAL, Va. - The Catholic University women's golf team placed fifth out of nine competing teams in the Greene Turtle Invitational Saturday afternoon at Shenandoah Valley Golf Course.

The Cardinals shot 728 (+152) for their team score to finish fifth on a long par 72, 5803-yard course in the two-round invitational. Marymount University took first place with a 691 (+115) team score, followed by Lynchburg (702) and Maryland Eastern-Shore (715). 

Sophomore Mary Colella led Cardinal golfers with a 171 (+27) to finish tied for eighth out of 40 competing golfers. She shot 86 and 85 in the two rounds. 

Freshman Ashley Amirsakis followed with a 179 (+35) score to tie for 15th overall. Amirsakis carded 90 and 89 in two rounds of play. 

Sophomore Olivia Brogan took third on the team with a 186 (+42) for 18th place. She finished both of her rounds at 93 (+21). 

Claire O'Brien and Annie Wright rounded out the scoring five for the Cardinals. O'Brien carded a 192 (+48) and Wright shot 195 (+51). 

Kaleigh McDonald and Carolyn Mueller competed as individual golfers, shooting 196 and 204, respectively. 

The Cardinals compete next weekend at the Revolutionary Classic on Saturday, October 12. The two-day tournament takes place at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club.
