TOWSON, Md. – Catholic University softball junior Claire Sturek has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performances last week.
The Springfield, Va. native earned her first shutout of the season and pitched two complete games, one of which secured a win against Landmark Conference opponent Scranton. In her two starts this past week, Sturek recorded an impressive 16 strikeouts and only one walk.
On Wednesday, the junior threw the best game of her career, posting a perfect game through 5.2 innings and only allowing one hit.
She is currently second in the Landmark Conference for strikeouts with 59 this season and will look to continue that success as the Cardinals head into the second half of its season.
Catholic is slated to return to action on Wednesday, April 3 when the team hosts Hood College in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m., at Catholic University Softball Field.
