Ames Breaks School Record at Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Catholic University men's cross country freshman Paul Ames broke a 16-year old school record with a time of 26:06.9 in the Men's College White 8k at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday. The Cardinals placed 15th out of 41 teams.

Ames finished 23rd out of 326 runners to break the record held by Mike Audette who set the previous mark of 26:19.0 in 2003.

"The men did really well today led by big performances by Ames and O'Rourke," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Steve Rahn. "They pushed each other and not only did both freshmen break the 16-year old school record, but the team ended up with eight personal records. With only four weeks left until conference champs, we are looking very strong."

Freshman John O'Rourke followed closely behind in 24th with a time of 26:08.8.

Catholic competes at the Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Logan Township, N.J. The race begins at 11 a.m.
