SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Sophomore Mason Reinhart's first career goal in overtime capped a 2-1 comeback victory for the Catholic University men's soccer team over the Susquehanna River Hawks on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals (5-5, 2-1 LC) controlled the conference matchup, outshooting Susquehanna 16-5 and taking eleven corner kicks to the River Hawks' three. The visitors fell behind early, though, as Susquehanna opened the scoring just before halftime in the 44th minute to go up 1-0.
The River Hawks (1-7-2, 0-1-1 LC) held the lead for most of the second half until Catholic answered with just minutes to play in regulation. Senior Brian Galfond assisted junior Andrew Laurenzano for his first goal of the season in the 87th minute to equalize. The match went into overtime tied at 1-1.
In the overtime period, the Cardinals found the back of the net to end the match for a crucial Landmark win. From a Jake Nabbie assist, Reinhart scored in the 97th minute to give Catholic its third road victory on the year.
Catholic takes the field again Tuesday, October 9 for a 7 p.m. home match against Washington College.
