Cardinals Take Third in Landmark Fall Preview

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. - The Catholic University men's golf team placed third against conference competition in the Landmark Fall Preview on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals shot 320 (+32) for their team score to finish third on a par 72, 6795-yard course at Scotch Valley Country Club. Goucher College took first place with a 309 (+21) team score, followed by Scranton (310). Drew, Susquehanna, Juniata, and Elizabethtown trailed third-place Catholic, respectively.

Sophomore Kaden Kinard led Cardinal golfers with an impressive round score of 76 (+4). His round tied for second out of 35 competing golfers with Goucher's All-American honorable mention Julian Gonzalez.

Kinard's 76 round ties a career-best. The 2019 Second Team All-Conference honoree shot 76 in last year's Fall Preview on Oct. 20, 2018 as well as this year's Elizabethtown Invitational on Sept. 17.

Scranton's Nick Campanelli took first outright shooting under par with a 71 (-1).

Fellow sophomore Zach Mueller followed close behind with a 77 (+5) round to tie for fourth place overall. The 77 is Mueller's best round of the season.

Senior Cavan Hagerty impressed with an 81 (+9) to finish third out of the scoring five golfers.

Freshman Jimmy Murphy and sophomore Alex Freedman rounded out the squad, shooting 86 (+14) and 90 (+18), respectively.

The Cardinals are back in action on Tuesday, October 8 in the Gettysburg Fall Invitational.
