SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Catholic University field hockey team secured its second Landmark Conference win of the season on Saturday, defeating Susquehanna on the road in overtime at Sassafras Field, 2-1.
The Cardinals (6-7, 2-1 LC) have won nine of the last 10 meetings against the River Hawks and are 14-3 all-time against them since joining the Landmark in 2007.
The River Hawks (5-9, 2-1 LC) tied the game at 1-1 with less than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
The Cardinals wasted little time attacking the net in the first overtime period with Scanlon taking a shot just 36 seconds in. Less than one minute later, junior Meghan Shallow scored an unassisted goal to lift Catholic over Susquehanna.
Catholic travels to Goucher on Wednesday for another Landmark Conference contest beginning at 7 p.m.
