FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Catholic University field hockey team defeated Mary Washington on Tuesday, 4-1.
The Cardinals (4-4) have now won 10-straight games against unranked teams dating back to Sept. 29, 2018.
Junior Kelly Cancelmo scored a career-high two goals as Catholic outshot the Eagles, 15-6.
Junior Meghan Shallow quickly put the Cards on the board in the first quarter off an assist from senior Alexandra DiFlorio. The Eagles answered back in the second quarter with their only goal of the game before Cancelmo had an unassisted goal in the third quarter to put Catholic up for good, 2-1.
Just 12 minutes later, Cancelmo scored again off a feed from junior Grace Olson to double the Cardinals' advantage before senior Katie Anderson netted her first tally of the season and 14th of her career with 10 minutes remaining on a set up from sophomore Grace Jung.
Goalkeeper Maysen Elliott made five saves in the win.
