DiFlorio Scores Three Points in 3-0 Shutout at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Catholic University field hockey team defeated Stevenson on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup, 3-0.

The Cardinals (2-2) have won 12 of the last 15 meetings against Stevenson since 1995, including seven-straight.

Near the end of the first quarter, senior Alexandra DiFlorio knocked in her first goal of the season with 2:57 remaining off an assist from sophomore Claire Flannery.

Less than a minute later, DiFlorio picked up her third point of the game when she fed an assist to junior Kelly Cancelmo who put the Cards up 2-0.

DiFlorio finished with a career-high three points on one goal and one assist. She entered the game with one goal and one assist in 39 career games.

12:52 left in the fourth quarter, junior Jess Waite scored her Catholic's third goal and her team-leading third goal of the season off an assist from senior Katie Anderson

Sophomore Maysen Elliott recorded four saves, one short of her career high set in a 2-0 loss at No. 19 Ursinus on Oct. 16, 2018. In six career starts, she has posted a 5-1 record with three shutouts.

The Cardinals will face their third top-10 opponent in five games this season when they travel to No. 8 Johns Hopkins on Saturday. It will mark the first meeting between the two teams since Sept. 23, 2006 and the first at Homewood Field since Oct. 14, 2002.
