ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Catholic University field hockey team closed out its regular season with a 1-0 victory over Elizabethtown to move to 7-0 in conference play on Saturday.
The Cardinals got on the board 18 minutes into the game with a Meghan Shallow goal off of a penalty stroke to take a 1-0 lead. Catholic's defense recorded another strong performance only allowing one Blue Jay shot in the first half.
The second half was scoreless for both teams. Elizabethtown tallied one shot early that was saved by sophomore goalie Kim McGroary. That shot would be the only allowed by the Cards defense in the second half to secure the 1-0 win and the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The win marks the Cardinals 18th straight Landmark Conference regular season win.
Catholic will return to the field when they host a Landmark Conference semifinal on Wednesday, October 31 at 4 p.m. against Scranton University.
