Bethlehem, Pa. — The Catholic University of America field hockey team won its seventh-straight game and improved to 5-0 in Landmark Conference play with a road victory at Moravian on Saturday afternoon, 4-1.
The No. 12-ranked Cardinals are now 11-2 overall afternoon as four different players scored to aid a strong defensive effort that held Moravian to just five shots and two penalty corners.
For the third-straight contest, the gamewinner came off the stick of sophomore Katie Anderson. The forward buried her shot unassisted in the 30th minute for her fourth game-clincher of the year.
Catholic built on its 1-0 halftime lead with three scores in six minutes.
Senior Kerri Shallow started it off with a goal on a collected rebound in the 42nd. Her classmate Marisa Martinelli then made it 3-0 as she buried a crossing pass from freshman Kelly Cancelmo less than two minutes later.
Catholic finished the day with 30 shots and put 18 of them on goal.
After two road games last week, the Cardinals return home this Tuesday at 6 p.m., to take on Ursinus in its final nonconference game of the season.
