Eight Cardinals Named to Academic All-Conference Team

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The Catholic University football team had eight players named to the 2018 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Football Academic All-Conference Team on Thursday, including seniors Michael Alberto and Matthew Vilas were each chosen for the second-straight year.

The Cardinals also had eight selections a year ago with juniors John Graham and Colin McNulty also being honored for the second consecutive season. Catholic's eight honorees were the fourth-most among the eight football schools in the NEWMAC.

Sophomores Brady Berger, Cormac Roe, Zack Tucker and Brendan Webster were also honored on Thursday.

A total of 93 student-athletes were selected to the Academic All-Conference Team for having a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher following the Spring 2018 semester. In addition to GPA, each honoree must have achieved second-year academic status at his institution and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Catholic wraps up the 2018 season next Saturday, November 10 when they host Maine Maritime at Cardinal Stadium beginning at noon.
