WASHINGTON - For the second week in a row, senior Brennan Cotter of The Catholic University of America baseball team has been selected as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the week.
Cotter had a four-homerun week as he made Catholic baseball history when he hit two homers in Scranton to become the Cardinals single-season homerun leader (9).
Cotter hit 6-of-9 with six RBIs and three runs during Saturday's doubleheader victory over the Royals. He hit 4-of-4 in game one before he lobbed a pair of 2-RBI homers over the fence in game two to tie recent Catholic Hall of Fame inductee Neil Roach '90 for most career homeruns (17).
During Sunday's series finale Cotter went 1-of-1 as Scranton walked the league standout four times.
Cotter earned a .632 batting average over a five-game week. The Oakland, N.J., native hit two solo homeruns against Hood College and recorded four doubles and six walks throughout the week, Along with leading the league in home runs (9), Cotter is No. 1 in RBIs at 46, which is 16 ahead of the No. 2 spot.
This is Cotter's third Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week recognition this season and fifth of his career.
