Cardinals Drop Series Finale to Royals, 4-2

Scranton, Pa. - The Catholic University of America baseball team fell 4-2 to the University of Scranton in game-three of its Landmark Conference Series on Sunday afternoon.

Trailing 2-0 after three innings, the Cardinals tied the game with their two runs in the top of the fourth. Freshman Michael Doody recorded Catholic first RBI as he grounded down the first base line to send home junior Bailey Lewis. Up next, senior Danny O'Hagan cracked a single into right field score his classmate Jake Crist.

The Royals claimed the victory with their third run in the bottom of the four and added one more in the eight for the final 4-2 decision.

Catholic recorded six hits in the nine-inning contest. Senior Brennan Cotter went 1-of-1 as Scranton walked the league standout four times. O'Hagan and freshman Keith Campbell each hit 1-of-2.

Junior Mason Belcher was charged with the loss after seven innings on the mound with four strikeouts before sophomore Eric Moore closed out the final inning.

Catholic is set to host Roanoke on Thursday, April 19. First pitch at Robert J. Talbot Field is slated for 3:30 p.m.
