Frostburg State Upsets Catholic 14-3

WASHINGTON – In the Cardinals second double figure non-conference loss of the season, the squad recorded three hits in contrast to Frostburg State's 16 hits on Sunday in Frostburg, Md.

Stefan Poggioli, Nick Clary and Wyatt Schmidt each recorded one hit apiece, as Dan Hinchcliff, Jimmy Davis and Kevin Nader tallied one RBI.

The Cardinals scored in the top of the forth and the top of the seventh. 

After being behind 6-0, Clary doubled down right field scoring Hinchcliff for a single run in the fourth.

In the top of the seventh, Schmidt doubled down left line scoring Davis, followed by Nader scoring on Joseph Franchi's sacrifice fly to right field.

Sean Van Gieson registered his first loss of the season by allowing six hits and six run, and no strikeouts in 2.2 innings.

The Cardinals close out the three-site road stint at Bridgewater (Va.) on Wednesday, April 16 at 4:00 p.m.
