Catholic Concludes Doubleheader with 3-0 Shutout

WASHINGTON - After succumbing to a 8-1 loss to open the doubleheader, the CUA baseball team bounced back to shutout out the Drew Rangers 3-0 for their sixth Landmark Conference win of the season.

Paul Burmester scored the lone run of game one on a single down left field by Eric Scamardella in the top of the third. 

Robin Mowatt recorded the loss when he allowed 10 hits, seven runs and sever errors, while pitching one strike in 1.1 innings. 

During game two, the Cards scored in the top of the fifth and sixth innings.

Stefan Poggioli scored Scamardella on a single down right field for a 1-0 lead.

Burmester opened the sixth inning scoring, as he reached home on a pitching error with Mike McFarland at bat.  Scamardella continued to lead the squad to success when he sacrificed himself to create the game-winning run. 

Kevin Farley recorded his fifth win, as he struck out five batters and allowed two hits. 

Catholic heads to Frostburg State on Sunday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m.
