Cardinals fall to Scranton

WASHINGTON- CUA lost to Scranton in game one of the Landmark Conference Tournament, 5-4 on Saturday.  Senior Mark Kalokitis went 2-for-4 with one homerun and Charlie Dillon earned two RBIs.

The Royals took the lead early in the 1st inning 3-0 after two crucial CUA errors.

Kalokitis hit a massive homerun over the left field wall in the bottom of the 2nd to put CUA on the board, 3-1.

Scranton added one more run in the 5th on Matt Maghini's double down the right field line and a hard grounder to second by Michael Gaeta.

CUA scored one more run in the bottom of the frame. With two runners on Michael Parco's grounder to second allowed Brendan Breslin to score from third.

Gaeta scored one more run in the 7th inning for the Royals after rounding the bases on three CUA wild pitches and increased Scranton's lead, 5-2.

In the bottom of the 9th, CUA scored two runs on three hits but with the bases loaded the Royals got the final out of the game and earned the win, 5-4.

The Cardinals will battle U.S. Merchant Marine Academy tomorrow May 5 at 9 a.m. in game three of the Landmark Conference Tournament.
